Let’s Celebrate!

I’m very excited that A Clue in the Stew (available for pre-order now), the fifth book in the Soup Lover’s Mystery series, is about to hit the bookshelves, literally and digitally on April 5, 2016!

Village.SteeplesThe village of Snowflake, Vermont is buzzing with excitement. Hilary Stone, the famous author of Murder Comes Calling, is planning a visit.  Even the discovery of the body of an unidentified woman strangled in the woods hasn’t dampened the spirits of Snowflake’s avid mystery fans — that is, until the villagers learn the murder mimics the popular novel.  Could the killer be a deranged fan hoping for attention?  Or is a copycat killer on the loose?

To celebrate the release of A Clue in the Stew, starting today, March 14, 2016, and ending at midnight (PST) on April 4, 2016, I’m offering three different giveaways.  And each giveaway will include an autographed copy of A Clue in the Stew.

Crock Pot

Count ’em, three!  And all giveaways are related to soup!  The first is a fantastic six quart crockpot, perfect for slow cooking soups.

Soup Bowls

The second giveaway is a set of delightful soup bowls

And the third is a Crock Lunch Food Warmer great for transporting soups (and other things) to work or anyplace else.

Lunch warmerAll you have to do to enter the giveaway is to leave a comment here, on my blog, between March 14th and midnight, April 4, 2016 (PST), with your email address, letting me know if you have a preference for any of the giveaways.  If not, that’s fine too.  I will use random.org to pick the three winners on April 5th, release day.  No entry will be excluded.  Don’t forget to leave your email address so I can contact you if you’re a winner!

ClueInTheStew_coverI really hope you’ll join in the fun and help me celebrate the release of A Clue in the Stew!

Good luck to all!

  1. I wish they had a store just for soup here in NJ other than Atlanta Bread and Paneira, like on Seinfeld. That would be fun to get different ones with crusty French bread each day.

    • Hi Linda ~ I know what you mean. But I think the Soup Nazi is still open in New York, right? And maybe other places? I’ve seen some YouTube videos of the “Soup Nazi” on Seinfeld. Very funny!
Best of luck in the giveaway!

  2. Hi. I’m really looking forward to your watm, yummy soup mystery! And, please enter me in your contest!!

  5. I have read and thoroughly enjoyed the first 3 Soup Lover’s mysteries and the recipes. I make soup a lot during the winter months. Now that my husband is retired, soups are great for him to reheat or cook, all day in crock pot, for easy suppers when I get home. I’d love to win the soup bowls or Crock lunch food warmer. dbahn@iw.net

    • Hi Judy ~ I did one of these giveaways last year for Ladle to the Grave, and it was amazing! Turned out the three winners all needed new crockpots! I was glad to have them shipped. There’s nothing more important than a slow cooker, especially in cold weather. And I’ll need some soup for sustenance with all these blog stops too!
      Best of luck, Judy!

This one was the publisher’s idea, wish I had thought of it myself, but I did get to name #2 and #3, A Broth of Betrayal and A Roux of Revenge. If I recall, my original title was “Parsley Sage Rosemary and Crime,” but I think the publisher might have thought it was too long. That’s okay though, I love the title of Clue! Best of luck in the giveaway!

    • Hi Judy ~ I hope you get to try some of the recipes! Thanks for entering today, and best of luck in the giveaway!

I could use a crockpot or the food warmer sound really practical too. I need to try that almond soup – sounds yummy. Thanks for the chance.

    • Hi Melanie ~ I found you, for some reason your comment was in spam. These sites are so confusing! Yes, the almond soup is great, I love the combo of soup and nuts myself. I’ll note the crock pot and food warmer for you. Good luck in the giveaway!

  25. I would be tickled “just” to win the book but thrilled if I won something else as well.
Soup is my comfort food. No matter what the booboo, there is a soup to make me feel better. Homesick? Peasoup. Bored? French onion. Upset tummy? Chicken noodle. Miss my Mommy? Potato soup. Wished I were in Scotland? Heinz Tomato soup. And the list goes on. And with your books it keeps growing….

    • Hi Dagmar ~ it’s great to hear from another soup lover! Yay! And I love your list of curative soups too! Wishing you lots of luck in the giveaway!

  26. I have not yet read any of the Soup Lover’s Mysteries, but I look forward to doing so. I’d love to be entered in your contest, and I like the soup bowls the best.

  27. Hi Connie – Almost time, yay! Can’t wait to get back to Snowflake, and what great covers, looking at them all in a row. The soup bowls are cute and would be perfect on these rainy days we are (finally) having here in N. California. Congrats on the release. I’ll be following the tour.

    • Hi Sally ~ Great to hear from you! Yes, I’ve heard you’re getting lots of rain up north. We’ve even had a few stormy days here. The rain has been very welcome, believe me. Thanks so much for following along and I hope you enjoy A Clue in the Stew too! Best of luck in the giveaway!
PS: Any chance we’ll see you at Malice this year?

      • No (sad face), no chance for Malice this year. A few family health things to take care of around here and then I’ll hit the road again!

        • Oh, I’m sorry to hear, Sally! I totally understand, family comes first. Hope everyone heals and stays well!

    • Hi Jan ~ well the Soup Lover’s Mysteries are perfect for you then. There is something about Vermont that doesn’t let go, isn’t there? I hope you get to visit Snowflake, VT very soon. Best of luck in the giveaway!

  28. Love the books, looking forward to reading the new one. I positively drooled over the beautiful crock pot, if there is one thin I never make, its a small meal. There are four In my family and together we total just about 1300 pounds. My old crockpot is smaller and has a big chunk broken out of the top edge. Pitiful!!!

    • Hi Sue ~ You definitely need a new crock pot! I’ll make a note of that, and I’m so glad to hear you’ve enjoyed the adventures in Snowflake! Very best of luck! Keep cooking and reading!

  30. Hi Cecilia ~ I agree, what could be better than a mystery along with a bowl of soup! I’ll note the soup bowls for you and very best of luck in the giveaway!

    • Hi Christine ~ What a fabulous idea! I love it! There are some other series set in Vermont. A new one was released last year, unfortunately I can’t remember the name of it, might be a knitting mystery if I’m not mistaken. And of course there’s the famous Archer Mayor, who writes some great cop stories. I think Vermont as a mystery setting has been overlooked for a long time. I hope you enjoy A Clue in the Stew and all the rest of the books too! And best of luck in the giveaway!

  31. Connie, I have all your books and have pre-ordered A Clue in the Stew. Love reading about the happenings in Snowflake!! Thanks for the chance to win a giveaway.

    • Hi Linda ~ thanks SO much for pre-ordering Clue! I hope you enjoy this story just as much! Best of luck in the giveaway too!

  32. I’d like the soup bowls but mostly I’d just like a copy of A Clue in the Stew! As a single “very-senior” my cooking is done in small amounts but not my reading.
Thanks for the fun giveaway and terrific reads.

    • Hi Karen ~ thanks for joining in! I’ll note the soup bowls for you and I hope you get back to the village of Snowflake very soon!

I would love the Crock Lunch Food Warmer.
I just bought a crock pot for the house.
I will check out your recipes and will bring
one to the next mysterybook book club pot luck party.

    • Hi Karen ~ thanks for entering! I’ve always loved soup and it’s great to hear from so many people who feel the same way. It is a comforting thing to eat. And thanks for sharing the Soup Lover’s Mysteries with your book club too.
Best of luck in the giveaway. (I’ve noted the lunch warmer for you.)

  34. Hi Connie!

Love your books and can’t wait for the next one. I guess I’d prefer the crock pot as I use mine all the time and sometimes need another one. Work from home so don’t need the warmer. LOL!

  39. Most of all, I’d love to win a copy of your book!! A delightful series I recently discovered. Going to be grabbing more of this series soon!!!As for a preference should I win one of your soup related prizes… I’d love the soup bowls!! I live off grid in Alaska, so warmers and crockpots don’t get used around much LOL Plus, my cabin is really too small for keeping such beautiful pieces of equipment around for the rare times I would be able to use them with my generator.

    • Hi Kathy ~ So glad to hear you’re enjoying the adventures in Snowflake, VT! Vermont’s almost as cold as Alaska, I’ll bet. I’ll note the soup bowls for you and wish you the best of luck in the giveaway!

  40. I love this series! I would be happy with any of the prizes. Since I work full time, I use my crockpot every week, week-ends I make a lot of soup and sandwiches and I take lunch to work everyday!
Thanks for the chance to win.

Looking forward to reading Clue in the Stew!

    • Hi Nancy ~ That’s fantastic! Have a wonderful trip to Vermont. I’ll tell everyone at the Spoonful to welcome you to Snowflake! One place you might want to visit — it’s amazing — is the Shelburne Museum (shelburnemuseum.org) just south of Burlington. Best of luck!

  49. Oh Connie, I am so ready for another trip to Snowflake. I have absolutely loved this series and being a big soup maker myself, this has been one of my very favorite series. I definitely have a need for a crockpot and the bowls are so nice too. Since I am retired now, I am not traveling with lunches, but that is a nice prize for someone who does take lunch to work. I have lots of recipes to share if you need or want any sometime in the future. Thank you for entering me into the contest. Looking forward to more delicious soup and murder in Vermont.
    Sincerely,
    Cynthia Blain
    ceblain(at)tmlponline(dot)net

    • Hi Cynthia ~ so great to see you here! Thanks for visiting! I hope you really enjoy A Clue in the Stew, it was a lot of fun to write. And I’m definitely open to all recipes, in fact, I’m going to make a pot of soup this afternoon! Best of luck in the giveaway!

  50. Hi! I have read the synopsis on your books and am looking forward to reading them. They are on my TBR. I am hoping this will be an early start. I am interested in the soup bowls. And would love the book. Half the time we eat soup for dinner. About 5 PM. Something fairly light. I love my soups dry and my salads wet. And I have to give that recipe a try. It looks so delish. My daughter is skeptical. We are buying a home together. Splitting the cost. She’s 42 by the way.

    • Hi Della ~ thanks so much for visiting and entering the contest. I’ll note the soup bowls for you, and hope you get to enjoy them in your new home. And I hope you’re able to visit Snowflake, Vermont very soon too. Best of luck in the giveaway!

  51. Your book sounds great. Who doesn’t love soup. And thanks for offering such a wonderful giveaway, too.

    lkish77123 at gmail dot com

    • Oh, you’re welcome, Linda ~ I did the same giveaway last year with Ladle to the Grave and it was so much fun, I decided to do it again. I hope you get to enjoy A Clue in the Stew too. Best of luck in the giveaway!

    • Hi Theresa ~ that’s SO good to hear! Hope you get to enjoy Clue and the new recipes. Very best of luck in the giveaway!

  52. I am really looking forward to this book Connie! I am probably a rare specimen, a man who likes the cozy mystery genre. “A Spoonful of Murder” was the first one I read, and the reason why it caught my eye is because the cover said “A Soup Lover’s Mystery” and I love soup! I love the setting, the characters, the descriptions of the soups, and the soup recipes. Thank you for your creativity!

    Would love the crockpot.

    evan888 at hotmail dot com

    • Hi Evan ~ I’m so glad you’re enjoying the series! I love soup too, it’s definitely a cozy food. Believe it or not, there are lots of men who like cozies, and some even write them! I’ll note the crock pot for you ~ and best of luck in the giveaway!

  53. HI Connie, I love your mysteries. My favorite soup is Rhode Island Clam Chowder, but I guess that would’t go over so well in Vermont. My first choice would be for the crock pot, but I’d be thrilled to win anything. Keep the books coming! Thank you, Janice

    • Hi Janice ~ I replied to your entry the other day, but for some reason it’s not showing up. So sorry! I have you on my list and I will definitely note the crock pot for you! Thanks so much for joining in and best of luck!

  54. Oh, thanks SO much, Janice! I’m so glad you like the Soup Lover’s Mysteries! Maybe you could call your soup Vermont Clam Chowder???
I’ll note the crock pot for you and best of luck!!

  55. I’m looking foward to your new book. I have a hold on it from the library but would love to have my own copy. I don’t have a crockpot so that would be my first choice but all of the prizes are great.

  56. A Soup related giveaway how fun…put me down for any of it…great idea and I would love to win the book…thank you for this.

  57. Love the mysteries. I also like the third Prize of a Crock Lunch Food Warmer + the autographed copy of A Clue in the Stew. I do like stew too. Looking forward to reading this next book.

    • Hi Karen ~ Thanks for joining in! So glad to hear you’ve enjoyed all the murders in the village! I’ll note the lunch warmer for you, and best of luck in the giveaway!

  58. Your books are new to me and sound great, especially with all those homemade soup recipes! I’d be most interested in the crockpot prize, as my crockpot is over 40 years old and has been through four husbands with me. What were the crockpot people thinking when they made their crockpots without removable crocks? Soooo hard to wash!

  59. Hi Connie ~ thanks for entering ~ sounds like you definitely need a new crock pot! And I think you’ll love the recipes in the Soup Lover’s series too. Best of luck!

    • Hi Marilyn ~ glad you could stop by today! New England is so beautiful, isn’t it? And I just love Vermont. I’ll note the crock pot and soup bowls for you – that’s what you meant when you said, ‘the first two?’ No worries though, if you win, I’ll contact you off line — best of luck!

    • Thank you, Laura ~ I’m really excited Clue will finally be out! It seems like it’s been a long time coming. I’ll note the crock pot, soup bowls and warmer, in that order for you. Best of luck in the giveaway, and welcome back to Snowflake, VT!

I would like the crockpot, please…..
